A small editor for one photograph at a time
FilmFX is an independent project maintained by a solo developer. It is built for the moment when you have a photo you like, but want a different color or mood without installing an editing app or opening an account.
Choose a photo, compare a few looks, adjust the strength and download it without a watermark. The filter library groups looks by their photographic use, from soft portraits and warm travel color to black and white. You can also use your own .cube LUT, fine-tune color, crop, straighten or add a visible date.
What “local editing” means
Your browser opens and processes the photo on your device. FilmFX does not upload that photo to a server. While you move between FilmFX pages in the same tab, the active photo and edits stay in memory. Refreshing or closing the tab clears that editing session, so download anything you want to keep.
Imported LUTs are different: they are saved in this browser's IndexedDB for later visits when storage is available. You can delete them in the studio or clear the site's browser data. Language and theme preferences may also be saved locally. Our hosting provider receives ordinary website requests; local photo processing does not mean the website is offline. The privacy policy explains this distinction.
What to expect from the results
FilmFX makes film-inspired interpretations, not certified reproductions of particular stocks, scans or camera modes. Fujifilm and Kodak names help describe a direction; FilmFX is not affiliated with or endorsed by either company. Lighting, exposure and the color already in your original affect the result.
The editor accepts JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC/HEIF, up to 20 MB and 60 megapixels per photo. HEIC decoding depends on the file and browser. Downloads are JPG, PNG or WebP; large exports also depend on available device memory.
It is not a RAW developer, a video editor or a batch processor. Output is 8-bit SDR, including Display P3 where supported—not true HDR. Exported files do not preserve the original EXIF or GPS metadata. Keep your original file for archiving.
