A small angle can make the whole frame feel calmer.

A photograph can look unsettled even when the camera was only a degree or two off. Horizons make the error obvious, but door frames, shelves, and windows can reveal it just as quickly. Fine rotation is for that small correction, not for turning every line perfectly vertical.

Use the 90° buttons when the photo orientation is wrong, then use the angle slider for the last adjustment. FilmFX automatically zooms just enough to cover the corners created by rotation, and the final export is rendered from the original source rather than a CSS-transformed preview.

Questions before you start

Can I rotate a photo by less than 90 degrees?+

Yes. The straighten control covers -15° to +15° in 0.1° steps, which is enough for a tilted horizon or a slightly crooked scan.

Will straightening create black or transparent corners?+

No. FilmFX automatically scales the photo enough to cover the frame after rotation, then lets you refine the crop before applying the edit.

Can I rotate and crop before adding a filter?+

Yes. Rotation, straightening, cropping, and the film look are kept in one non-destructive edit and rendered together when you export.

Does FilmFX upload the image to rotate it?+

No. Rotation and export run locally in your browser. The photo does not leave your device and the downloaded result has no FilmFX watermark.
